How The Ebola Czar Ron Klain Can Control The Crisis
Today, we have an Ebola Czar.
Whether he is the right appointment or not is not the most important issue to debate in the media.
Instead of listening to all the opposing views coming from reporters and politicians, let’s use this valuable front-end time to field as many suggestions as we can on how to attack this disease, while we gather the very best of the best together, for as long as it takes, to put together a well thought out plan that can also be used internationally.
- Currently, there’s a cruise ship off the Texas shore with a potential Ebola case.
- Don’t bring it to shore!
Instead, dedicate that ship as the Offshore Ebola Medical Facility to treat patients and tend to anyone suspect of Ebola.
As an immediate step in the right direction for the passengers on board the ship, give them the help and comfort they need to know they are being well tended too, they will be checked out thoroughly, and they will be allowed to go home soon.
This cruise ship off the Texas shore is a huge vessel, basically a small city on the water. Take it into international waters and make it the control point that is needed right now, to treat any potential Ebola case, plus, and what could be its most important purpose, it will provide a very tight control of any new Ebola situation.
This ship will provide the needed calm that many people want right now as it relates to the threat of Ebola in the United States.
On the ship the special medical staff will serve in 21 day tours of duty, or whatever the designated days for quarantine might be, and will stay on board the ship and away from the quarantined area to be monitored to see that they do not display signs of the disease and then allowed to go home.
The medical staff could rotate, or stay for longer periods.
My suggestion is to use the cruise ship as an Offshore Ebola Medical Facility.
Don’t allow any more patients to go to hospitals that lack the special training to handle Ebola or the quarantined space to hold and treat patients.
The Ebola Czar should not allow any more transfers from one facility to another. Instead, take the patient immediately to the special medical ship, in international waters, away from the population.
While this will not guarantee any other outbreak, doing this will cut down the possibility of an accidental spreading of the disease.
- What do we do if the cruise ship fills up?
- Get another ship.
What do we do with the passengers on the ship off the Texas shore who want off? Allow these passengers 21 days to be treated and observed so they do not display signs, and then they can go home.
In the meantime get a second ship that can be used as a Step-Down Ebola Medical Facility, as a place to hold anyone who has no signs of the disease, but who, for whatever reason, is not yet ready to be released.
The bottom line is that we should do all we can to control the situation we have today, and not allow the current situation and Ebola cases to spread by doing nothing.
As in any lab environment you must have a control point or group. The cruise ship can fill a very important role in control, and it would allow the medical professionals to take change of a very tough and growing situation, all in a controlled environment.
- We don’t need a committee to discuss and debate.
- We need the Ebola Czar to take immediate action.
To do nothing but get in front of a camera and try to talk through this disease is the worst thing that could happen.
